Meet Your Chapter President-Elect

Hello fellow chapter members,

Family PicLast month you got to know Chapter President Ryan Kirby a little better, so this month Ryan and I thought we’d continue the theme and I’d share a little about myself. This year, I’m serving as president-elect and VP of Image Awards. This is where I’ll drop a shameless plug to challenge you all to consider submitting an Image Award in February. You deserve the recognition! More details to come on that.

My FPRA journey began in 2016 when I started working under a new manager who happened to be the FPRA state president-elect. I joined the Nature Coast chapter, and several years later, switched to the Tampa Bay chapter.

I participated in the statewide LeadershipFPRA program in 2017-2018, and that’s where I grew to love the association. I built relationships with PR professionals from all over the state and got to know some longtime leaders in FPRA. I love attending conference each year and getting to see my LeadershipFPRA classmates. I’d like to encourage our members to consider participation. You can learn more here.

What I love most about FPRA is the welcoming family feel. I hope you all have experienced that when participating in chapter events, and I hope to get to know more of our members better at in-person events this year.

Additionally, I’m the Communications manager for the Southwest Florida Water Management District where I lead an award-winning team of 10 communications, graphics and web professionals. The team’s responsibilities include internal communications, strategic communications planning, social media, video production, public opinion research and surveys, public and youth education programs, publications, graphics support and web design.

Most importantly, I am a wife and mother of two beautiful daughters. Madelyn turned seven in October and is in the first grade. Molly just turned two this month and is keeping me on my toes! In our free time, we love to travel, boat and brunch! Mimosas anyone?

Thanks for allowing me the privilege to serve on your chapter board. I’ll end with a quote I love from Simon Sinek, “Leadership is not a rank or position to be attained. Leadership is a service to be given.”
