Meet Davina Gould, APR – Assistant Director for Communications, USF Health Development and Alumni Relations
FPRA member for 7 years
Why do you love PR?
There’s never a dull moment! I enjoy the fast-paced nature of PR, and it’s exciting to help shape organizational strategy in a creative way. The tools and technology are constantly evolving, creating new opportunities for reaching our audiences.
Why did you join FPRA Tampa Bay?
I joined to connect with professional peers in public relations beyond my small office, and I was also interested in pursuing my APR credential. A past colleague recommended FPRA Tampa Bay as the friendliest communications-related professional organization in the Tampa Bay area, and FPRA did not disappoint.
What’s your favorite social media platform for PR?
That’s a trick question! It all depends on where your audience is. For reaching journalists and industry thought leaders, I like Twitter. For professional networking, LinkedIn. For more casual conversations with brand ambassadors and connecting alumni or other affinity groups with each other, Facebook is my favorite.
How do you stay involved in the Tampa Bay community?
Besides FPRA, I expect that my new job at USF Health will involve quite a bit of community interaction, especially as plans take shape for the new Morsani College of Medicine and USF Heart Institute building in downtown Tampa.
What do you do for fun?
I like to bake and spend time with my family. I’m training for the Disney Princess half-marathon in February, but the training part isn’t nearly as fun as it sounds.
