JANUARY PROGRAM REVIEW - SE HABLA ESPANOL?
(continued from Page 1)

Panelists asserted that several unique factors are important when considering communicating with the Hispanic community, including a desire for Hispanics to connect with their community via a common language and heritage, and to learn what is happening in their home countries. Attendees at the standing-room only event at The Media Factory (www.themediafactory.com) also learned several key lessons that can help them reach this important market:

  • Press materials, including press releases, media alerts and pitch letters, do not have to be in Spanish.
  • Public relations professionals do not have to speak Spanish in order to pitch Spanish-language media.
  • Organizations do not need to have a Spanish-speaking spokesperson. In many cases, the Spanish-language media outlet will assist organizations in identifying and securing a Spanish speaker on their behalf.
  • Nearly every event or program has a Hispanic angle, especially if families or children are involved or impacted.

The Tampa Bay Hispanic Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the program. For more information about the Chamber and how they can help you with your public relations or marketing programs geared toward the Hispanic community, please visit www.tampahispanicchamber.com.
