FPRA Tampa Bay hosted the 2005 Local Image Awards Banquet on Wednesday, April 20 at the Sheraton Suites Hotel in Tampa. The Image Awards recognize outstanding public relations programs and encourage and promote the development of public relations professionalism. Winners demonstrate the very best examples of innovation, planning and design.

Awards of Distinction for all entries that meet the standards of excellence set by a panel of judges were presented to:

Family Resources Inc. for the Family
Resources Video Presentation
, a nine-minute, 56-second powerful video presentation with accounts of how the agency has impacted the lives of youth and their families.

The Hillsborough County Communications Department for NewsLine, a monthly newsletter.

SCHOLARSHIPS TO BE AWARDED TO
LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

On May 12, 2005 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm in The Grand Salon at the University of Tampa, the Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance (TBWA) will host An Investment in Tomorrow's Workforce Today. This awards gala will honor and recognize 26 Hillsborough County high school seniors for academic excellence. The 2005 Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance Scholarships totaling $174,000 will be applied to any college of the recipients' choice. The scholarship program is designed to assist young graduates in preparing for an increasing demand for higher educated workers in the Tampa Bay region.

Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio will deliver greetings. The Mayor's Youth Corps will be on hand, and Mario Diaz, anchor of Tampa Bay News 10's This Morning Around the Bay will bring his excitement to the program as master of ceremonies.
