Communications Student Intern, Southwest Florida Water Management District

The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in protecting Florida’s water resources, is seeking a Communications Student Intern in support of the Communications and Board Services bureau. The successful candidate will work with the Communications section, gaining hands-on experience in three Public Relations disciplines including media relations, social media and internal communications.

Essential Functions:
• Creating social media content
• Writing news releases, blog posts and newsletter articles
• Assisting with video productions
• Assisting in writing and implementing communications plans
• Assisting with public meetings and events
• Media monitoring
• Learning website basics and more

Successful Candidate Must:
• Be enrolled at least part-time in an accredited college, university or other recognized educational or vocational program
• Preferred Degrees: Communications or Public Relations
• Preferred Degree Level: Junior or Senior Undergraduate or Graduate
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students
• Provide a copy of official school transcript within 30 days of employment
• Upload unofficial transcript to application or presence

Compensation: $11.58 hourly
