Why did you join FPRA Tampa Bay?
I joined FPRA Tampa Bay when I began my second PR job. As someone who transitioned from a decade-long career as a television news producer to a public relations account manager, I thought it was important to brush up on the PR skills I learned in college and network with other PR professionals in the area.

Why should local PR pros get involved with FPRA Tampa Bay?
FPRA is a great resource for professional development, such as monthly educational programs and accreditation prep courses. It is also a great way to meet local practitioners, share best practices and collaborate with others.

Why do you love PR?
Public relations is a great combination of storytelling, strategy, advocacy and relationship building. With the trust of your client and/or company, you can build a great plan to expose the masses to a product or service and do it in creative and thought-provoking ways.

What’s your favorite social media platform for PR?
I am an Instagram fanatic. However, if I am attending a conference or professional development event, look for me on Twitter. I am known for chronicling all the good takeaways there. Why take notes and keep them to yourself when you can share the knowledge with the masses?

What’s your go-to source for PR tips and trends?
I have several places I check out for PR tips and trends. FPRA and other professional organizations and trade publications are great for information, but it is also great to keep up with what’s going on in the news. There will always be a company or celebrity dealing with some crisis or a new product being launched. You can learn a lot from following what other companies are doing to get noticed and remain relevant.

What do you do for fun?
I am a big foodie, so fun for me involves checking out a new restaurant or trying a new recipe. Of course with all my eating, fitness is important too. But I tend to have fun when I am at the gym, out for a run or taking the bike for a spin.

How do you stay involved in the Tampa Bay community?
Those who know me know how much I love my alma mater, Florida State University. This is why I became a board member of the Tampa Bay Seminole Club. The organization holds several community events throughout the year that benefit the community through service and scholarships, as well as FSU.
